The Los Angeles Lakers are hopeful point guard Rajon Rondo will return to the bubble at some point during the first round of the 2020 playoffs, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Rondo is back in Orlando, Florida, but not at the Walt Disney campus. He left the bubble to undergo surgery on his fractured thumb.

Haynes reports Rondo is currently working out with Kurt Rambis.

The Lakers lost to the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. They have not played well down in Orlando, Florida, as they are just 2-4. Despite clinching the No. 1 seed in the West already, Los Angeles has to close out its seeding games on a strong note to enter the playoffs with some positive momentum.

Rondo appeared in 48 games for the Lakers before the season was suspended in March. The four-time All-Star and one-time champion was averaging 7.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 20.5 minutes per contest. Rondo shot 41.8 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 65.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers are back in action on Monday when they take on the Denver Nuggets. Their last seeding game is on August 13 versus the Sacramento Kings.
