After freeing enough cap space to sign one more top-tier free agent to a max contract, the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to make a massive splash in free agency. They are targeting almost every superstar that will be available, but they also know that they could strike out and end up with nothing.

Unlike the previous years though, the Lakers are still in a very good spot even if they fail to land the top guys. Their backup plan is to use their cap space to sign reliable role players, such as free agent guard Seth Curry.

The Lakers' top priorities in free agency are Kawhi Leonard and D'Angelo Russell, but if both players decide to join another team, then LA will focus on surrounding LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Kyle Kuzma with shooters that can help space the floor. Curry will be a perfect fit for the Purple and Gold if they end up signing him.

Seth is a lethal shooter from beyond the arc, and playing alongside LeBron, AD and Kuz will create a ton of open shots for him. Although he is quite a liability on the defensive end, he makes up for it with his accurate shooting and high basketball IQ.

Curry is not the only mid-tier free agent that the Lakers have reached out to, as they have reportedly contacted Patrick Beverley's representatives as well. The franchise is handling its free agency situation quite well, preparing to settle for the smaller fishes on the market should the big ones slip out of their hands.
