The Los Angeles Lakers open the 2018-19 regular-season on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers Thursday night, and head coach Luke Walton is going to start Rajon Rondo at point guard, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope at shooting guard, Brandon Ingram at small forward, LeBron James at power forward, and JaVale McGee at center, via Kyle Goon of The Southern California News Group.

Tonight's game is James' regular-season debut with the Lakers after signing a four-year deal with the team in July. Rondo signed a one-year deal after James, and he was named the starter in training camp. Second-year guard Lonzo Ball underwent knee surgery after the 2017-18 season ended, and he needed some more time to recover than the team originally expected. Ball will back up Rondo.

McGee played with the Golden State Warriors last year. He figures to get a lot of easy looks at the rim this season playing alongside two stellar passers in James and Rondo. Caldwell-Pope, who is represented by James' agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, was on the Lakers last year and he is a solid shooter from the perimeter.

Ingram, according to James, has superstar potential. The Lakers value Ingram, so much so that the organization didn't include him in trade talks over the summer when they were trying to acquire Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs.

All eyes will be on LeBron James, not just tonight, but all season. The best player in the world is now playing for one of the most prestigious franchises in all of sports. The Lakers are going to be on national television a lot this season.
