Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton said that this batch of the Purple and Gold would likely attract ‘more noise' as compared to the Shaquille O'Neal-Kobe Bryant era — and he's not just talking about the roar of the crowd in the arena.

As reported by Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, Walton said that his team will go through so much noise this year, alluding to the modern society that we live in today.

“There's gonna be more noise than any of us have been through before,” Walton said. “… I think this will be more because of the world we live in.”

The reason for the noise is pretty obvious. The Lakers now have LeBron James, arguably the best player on the planet today. Along with James, the likes of Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Brandon Ingram will enter the season with tons of expectations as well.

Walton is well aware of the realities, though he remained neutral as it whether it would affect his team negatively or not.

“I think the social media, and whatever you call all of that, is way bigger than when I played. So I think the general team will be very similar to the teams I played on here… but because of what we live in now and the media attention that is out there, there is more of that external noise.”
