With the Los Angeles Lakers (11-26) currently in the midst of a frustrating eight-game losing streak that dates back to Dec. 22, the talk amongst fans questioning the job status of head coach Luke Walton gradually continues to heat up.

According to a post earlier today from ESPN staff writer Ohm Youngmisuk, Walton opened up about whether he worries about his job as Lakers head coach is in jeopardy during this bad stretch of basketball.

“No, I coach as if it's not,” Walton said. “As I preach to my players that control what you can control in life, that has to be my philosophy as a coach as well.”

The Lakers are coming off their worst loss of the season so far after they were absolutely trounced 133-96 at home by the star-studded Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. Not only has Los Angeles dropped their last eight games, but they have also lost 11 of their last 12 contests dating back to early December.

Recently, Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss tweeted out her support for coach Walton on New Year's Eve urging fans that the organization will get through the recent tough times.

Walton, whose Lakers currently have the worst record in the Western Conference, was thankful for the support from Buss and the rest of the organization's front office.

“[Team president Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka] have been great, they have been supportive,” Walton said. “They obviously understand where we are at as a team and what we are trying to do and what the big picture is… [Buss] has been incredible. I've talked with her a lot during the season. She has been around this game for a long time. She knows when to be supportive and she has been really great to work with.”

The Lakers will have a golden opportunity in front of them tonight to get back in the win column when they host the Charlotte Hornets (14-23) at Staples Center.
