After seeing him play well during the Summer League, Luke Walton has had higher expectations on Kyle Kuzma. He witnessed first hand his impressive skill set, which allowed him to be effective on both ends of the floor. That said, it’s no surprise that Kuzma has earned the trust of his head coach and is expected to play a significant role for the Los Angeles Lakers this year.

Walton recently discussed what he thinks the rookie swingman brings to the team whenever he’s on the court. He then added, via ClutchPoints’ Ryan Ward, that the 27th overall pick from June’s draft is doing well when it comes to playing to his strengths.

Heading into the draft, Kyle Kuzma was not a highly-touted prospect, but he shocked many with his impressive play for the Lakers during the summer, and proved that he deserves to be a first round pick.

With a lot of confidence and momentum on his side, the 22-year-old is geared to have a solid rookie campaign. If he can continue the strong start he’s had to his professional career, not only will he receive more playing time, but he can also establish himself as one of the Lakers’ cornerstones for the years to come, and set his future up for success.
