The stage was set for Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball to show out on Wednesday night versus the Philadelphia 76ers. With all the young stars finally aligning in Staple Center, it was a perfect opportunity for Ball to showcase the kind of ability that made him one of the biggest headlines of the offseason.

Unfortunately, it ended with yet another disappointing performance for this year's No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft, who finished with just two points and two assists on 1-of-9 shooting. Despite Ball's ongoing shooting troubles, head coach Luke Walton has no plans of taking him out of the starting lineup via Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints:

Although Ball's historically-bad shooting has been a legitimate cause for concern, he has still managed to string together some strong performances thanks to his prowess in nearly every other aspect of the game. However, the Lakers rookie was clearly unable to do so last night and ultimately wound up on the bench during the final stretch of the game as Philadelphia went on to win 115-109.

The expectations for Ball were already a bit unrealistic thanks to his charismatic father's bold claims over the summer. At this point, however, he has yet to show he is even capable of running the Lakers offense.
