With speculations about Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball needing more time to recover from his injury, it is easy to imagine that Jordan Clarkson or Tyler Ennis could start in his place. The two have played more minutes at the point guard spot this season and have been able to hold the fort for the team whenever the former UCLA star is out.

That already gives Luke Walton two options, but he could also opt to shake things up by starting Alex Caruso instead. However, that seems highly unlikely to happen, especially with the second-year head coach admitting recently that he doesn't think he'll try it, via ClutchPoints' own Ryan Ward.

The 23-year-old Texas A&M product is currently signed with the Lakers on a two-way contract and has been splitting time in the NBA and the G-League. He's suited up for the Purple and Gold in 14 games so far and averaging 2.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 11.0 minutes per game.

The Lakers currently own a 17-29 record and are doing their best to remain within striking distance of the teams battling for the last playoff spots in the Western Conference. Should they fail to do so, the team could decide to give their young guns more playing time for them to gain additional experience. Caruso could be part of it, which will allow him to prove that he belongs in the NBA and set his future up for success. Until that happens though, he will continue to come off the bench as Walton made it clear he won't start in Ball's absence, at least for now.
