With training camp approaching, the Los Angeles Lakers enter their first full season under President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka. With Lonzo Ball being the team's point guard of the future, there is plenty of optimism for the storied franchise.

At the ESPNLA special dinner event, head coach Luke Walton discussed Johnson's involvement with Ball as transcribed by Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation:

“I’d be an absolute fool not to ask Magic Johnson for his advice on a player like Lonzo Ball.”

Johnson is considered the greatest point guard of all time and Ball has already drawn comparisons to the current President of Basketball Operations during his lone season at UCLA. During Summer League, Ball's pass-first mentality was on full display as he nearly averaged a triple-double en route to the Las Vegas Summer League Most Valuable Player award.

Heading into the 2017-18 NBA season, all the attention will be on Ball and Brandon Ingram. Should both prospects show they have All-Star potential and help the team compete for a playoff spot, it is no secret the Lakers front office has big plans for free agency in hopes of landing superstars like LeBron James and Paul George.
