The dust has barely settled on the Los Angeles Lakers' championship win on Sunday, and already, Lakers legend Magic Johnson is already talking about the future. The man he has set his sights on right now is none other than Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic.

Speaking to Max Kellerman in a recent appearance on ESPN's “First Take“, Magic expressed his desire to bring Doncic to Hollywood:

“Luka come on to the Lakers, I like that,” Johnson said.

To be clear, this is nothing more than wishful thinking for Magic at this point. Doncic is still in contract with the Mavs, and is not going to enter free agency anytime soon. More importantly, Dallas will do everything in their power to keep their young star with the franchise as long as humanly possible. Simply put, we just don't see this happening anytime soon.

Four or five years down the line, however, will be an altogether different question. If the Mavs fail to make significant progress during this span, then Doncic might just be forced to rethink his future with the franchise. By then, Lakers star LeBron James will likely be on his way out, if he hadn't retired already (assuming that he sees out his career in L.A., of course). Who better to pass the baton to than to a star that has proven that he can be the face of the NBA for the next generation?

Doncic to the Lakers sounds outright crazy right now, but Johnson might have sneakily just planted a seed here.
