Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is channeling his inner Michael Jordan.

According to Brent Lang of Variety, Johnson will be the subject of a new feature film documentary from XTR, H.wood Media, NSV and Delirio Films:

“In these unprecedented times we need films that celebrate heroes more than ever,” said XTR CEO Bryn Mooser in a statement. “As one of the most legendary, hardworking and resilient public figures of our time, Magic Johnson’s accomplishments both on and off the court are something worth spotlighting to the world and we’re excited to tell that story and work closely with him and NSV to take viewers inside his remarkable journey.”

During his elite career with the Lakers, Johnson averaged 19.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 11.2 assists over 906 games. Magic won three regular-season MVPs, three Finals MVPs and five NBA championships.

This documentary will not only focus on Johnson's contributions on the court for the Lakers, but it will also touch on Magic's positive HIV test in 1991. This forced him into retirement before a brief return in 1995-96. The Hall of Famer also played a key role in the acquisition of several sports franchises, such as the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Michael Jordan's “The Last Dance” documentary was a huge hit for ESPN. Odds are Magic Johnson's doc will be stellar as well.

Considered the greatest point guard in NBA history, Johnson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002. He worked with the Lakers as president of basketball operations, but stepped down during the 2018-19 season in an impromptu press conference at Staples Center.
