Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson is involved in the team's search for its next coach, but that does mean he's also a candidate for the position? Well, Magic Johnson doesn't believe that will happen.

Speaking to TMZ Sports recently, Johnson opened up about that possibility and shared his belief that Jackson will not be coaching ever again. Besides, he is already 76 and has been out of the coaching circles for a decade now.

“I don't think Phil's going to coach again, but he's helping,” Johnson said of Jackson.

Phil Jackson still has a good relationship and influence with the Lakers, so it's not a surprise why some people are wondering if he could return to the NBA sidelines and coach LA. However, there has not been any indication that the franchise is trying to bring him in.

For what it's worth, the Lakers have also started their hiring process, interviewing the likes of former Portland Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts, Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham, Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin and ex-Golden State Warriors tactician Mark Jackson. Apparently, though, they are reportedly waiting whether or not the likes of Doc Rivers and Quin Snyder will be available in the offseason.

It remains to be seen who the Lakers will hire as Frank Vogel's replacement, but if you are wondering if Magic Johnson could be a candidate, the NBA legend firmly said “no” as well.
