The Los Angeles Lakers had only one pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, but they made sure to make it count. LeBron James will be playing alongside former Michigan State standout Max Christie in 2022-23, and for his part, Lakers legend Magic Johnson has decided to jump in on the hype train.

On Monday, Magic sent out a tweet expressing his excitement about the 19-year-old. Johnson talked up Christie and what he believes this young kid can bring to the table:

“I’m excited about the @Lakers draft pick MSU’s Max Christie! He can play multiple positions, is an excellent defender, has a high basketball IQ, and has a beautiful jump shot. Max just needs to get stronger and work on his ball handling,” Johnson wrote in his tweet

The Lakers actually traded for the No. 35 pick in the draft, which is an indication of how much they wanted Christie on their squad. Hopefully, he makes a significant impact on the team next season. He won't be gunning for Rookie of the Year honors, but an Austin Reaves-type of impact should be more than good enough for the purple and gold. If you ask Magic Johnson, it's clear that he believes this young kid holds a lot of potential.
