The Los Angeles Lakers recently locked up LeBron James to a two-year extension that will see the four-time MVP remain with the franchise for at least until 2023. Lakers fans were rejoicing upon hearing the news, and unsurprisingly, it garnered a similar level of delight from Magic Johnson.

Johnson took to Twitter to congratulate the Lakers organization on extending LeBron's deal with the squad:

On Wednesday, it was announced that the Lakers had come to terms with LeBron on a two-year max extension worth $85 million. Prior to this new agreement, James was entering the third year of the four-year contract he signed when he joined the Lakers as a free agent back in 2018. He had a player option for the 2021-22 season, but with this recent development, he's now under contract through 2022-23.

It is also worth noting that on Thursday, the Lakers also reached an agreement with Anthony Davis on a massive five-year max deal that is reportedly in the $190 million range. That's an undeniably substantial amount, but Davis is worth every penny as the long-term superstar of this franchise.

The defending champs are not messing around here. They just locked up their two superstars for the foreseeable future, which is a clear indication that they will be gunning for a championship for the next few years. This could be the beginning of a new Lakers dynasty.
