Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is still keeping tabs on his former team as he congratulated Anthony Davis after he successfully led LA to a much-needed win. However, he did have a mishap in his tweet as he wrongly mentioned the Utah Jazz instead of the Denver Nuggets, thus leaving fans to wonder about the game that he was watching on Monday night.

Despite not naming the right opponent on Twitter, Johnson was still right in giving credit to Davis who had to shoulder most of the load against the Nuggets. His running mate in LeBron James failed to see action due to the ankle soreness that he experienced in their previous game against the Toronto Raptors. Meanwhile, Dennis Schroder was also kept out of the contest due to the league's health and safety protocols.

Without the two key players, Davis stepped up as he notched 25 points and seven rebounds. He also made the game-sealing block on a three-point attempt by Nuggets guard Facundo Campazzo in the final seconds of the game. With the eight-time All-Star's presence on both ends of the floor, the depleted Lakers were able to run away with a 93-89 victory on their home floor.

The win against a playoff squad like the Nuggets was huge for the Lakers as it halted their three-game losing skid. They also improved to a 37-28 record to jump to the fifth spot in the Western Conference. However, the Lakers can't stop just yet as they are merely a game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks who are closely trailing behind at the sixth seed with a 36-28 record.

With LeBron James and Dennis Schroder's continued absence, the Lakers will have to continue to rely on the production of Anthony Davis who is also trying to get his rhythm after a long layoff due to his injuries. Hopefully, he will hold it down until more players return to action as they seek to secure a playoff spot outside of the play-in tournament.
