Marc Gasol has had no problems fitting in with the Los Angeles Lakers, something that he credits to team superstar LeBron James. Prior to tip-off for the Lakeshow's second preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, the 35-year-old center praised The King for embracing him the moment he joined the reigning champions in practice. Per Ron Gutterman of Lakers Nation:

“Me as a new guy, having him tell you the things they’re looking for and the things you can do better or are doing really good, it’s good. It speeds up the process of being part of the team and being effective. How well he communicates is very positive.”

Looks like James' guidance has indeed been beneficial for Gasol, who seamlessly fit in the Lakers system in his preseason debut for the team. The Lakers knocked off the Clippers for the second time, 131-106, as the Spaniard pitched in six points, five assists, and four rebounds in 22 minutes.

It's nice to see Gasol and James get along, especially after that recent friendly banter they had over the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year award.

While joining the defending champions is an ideal situation for Gasol at this stage of his career, it does come with some pressure. Gasol is practically taking over the void left by ex-Laker centers Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee, who anchored the team's interior last season. While Gasol does bring a more varied skill set to the table, injuries and Father Time has certainly slowed him down a bit in the last couple of years.

Luckily for him, LeBron will be watching his back closely this season.
