Marc Gasol has decided to leave the Toronto Raptors and sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, bolstering the Lakers' frontcourt after the departure of Dwight Howard to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Marc Gasol will sign a two-year deal with the Lakers:

This move creates several fascinating stories as it ripples through the NBA. Gasol helping the Lakers and hurting the Raptors is one piece to this puzzle. Toronto responded by signing Aron Baynes Sunday evening in an attempt to compensate for Gasol's departure, but most will view that as a downgrade at the position.

Another big headline: Marc Gasol comes to the Lakers after brother Pau Gasol went to the same franchise over a decade earlier and helped L.A. win Kobe Bryant's last two NBA titles in 2009 and 2010.

It will be interesting to see how much the Lakers are willing to pay Marc Gasol. The Spanish center also had other options on the table.

Prior to landing Gasol, who will now try to replace both JaVale McGee and current Philadelphia 76ers big man Dwight Howard, the Lakers also came to terms with or traded for shooting guard Wesley Matthews, point guard Dennis Schröder and former Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell.
