While several teams are still battling out in the NBA Playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers are now probably battling with their conscience as to who should be their next coach.

One of the names being thrown around in recent weeks is Mark Jackson. The popular TV analyst has not hidden his desire to return as a coach in the NBA after his stint with the Golden State Warriors. Getting hired by the Lakers would be one heck of a comeback.

Lakers superstar LeBron James already endorsed Jackson. Now, his former teammate JR Smith also openly expressed on Twitter that the Purple & Gold should sign the 57-year-old former NBA guard.

Smith, who just signed a deal with a golf apparel brand, won his second NBA title during his brief stint with the Lakers in 2020, and clearly, his loyalty still lies with the squad.

Smith also had productive stints with the New York Knicks—one of Jackson's former teams—where he won the Sixth Man of the Year trophy in 2013. Of course, he also helped LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers capture the NBA championship in 2016. So yeah, he knows his basketball (though he sometimes doesn't know the score).

Aside from Jackson, other names being linked to the Lakers' coaching vacancy are Nick Nurse, Quin Snyder, and Juwan Howard.
