Markieff Morris signed with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week, giving him the chance to compete for a championship after spending his first few months of the 2019-20 NBA campaign with the lowly Detroit Pistons.

But the opportunity to play for a title wasn't the only reason why Morris went to the Lakers.

Another factor in Morris ‘decision was the fact that his twin brother, Marcus, had been traded to the Clippers earlier this month. So Markieff couldn't pass up the chance to play in the same city as his sibling:

“I think it had a little bit to do with it,” Markieff said, according to Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register. “Both of us are going to be competing for a championship and I think we both got a good shot and I was excited when he came to the Clippers and was more excited when I came to the Lakers.”

The Morris brothers will even be living together in Los Angeles and may carpool to games in which the Lakers and Clippers will face off. That should certainly add some more spice to what is already an intriguing rivalry.

In two games since joining the Lakers, Markieff is averaging six points and 2.5 rebounds over 17 minutes per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor.

Through 46 contests this season overall, Morris is registering 10.8 points and 3.9 boards across 22.2 minutes a night while making 45.1 percent of his field-goal attempts, 39.9 percent of his three-point tries and 77.8 percent of his free throws.

The Lakers are 45-12 and sit in first place in the Western Conference.
