Markieff Morris and the Los Angeles Lakers have elected to run it back in efforts to repeat for a championship. Morris re-signed with the Lakers on Monday to a veteran-minimum, two-year deal, according to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.

Morris went on Twitter to express his gratitude in having the opportunity to contend once more for another ring:

Morris spent a bit of time in the free agency pool before the Lakers elected to bring the 10-year veteran back after exploring multiple options of how to upgrade the roster versus the version they toted last season. Morris signed with the Lakers back in February after being waived by the Detroit Pistons.

Through 14 games, Morris averaged 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game through 14.2 minutes. The Kansas Jayhawks standout struggled to find his rhythm in a frontcourt composed already of Anthony Davis and a postionless LeBron James. How his new role works out remains to be seen. The Lakers have already signed Montrezl Harrell, who'll likely eat up a good bulk of the forward minutes as well.

Morris can still contribute off the bench more than likely, providing a spark that the Lakers will need after rejuvenating their reserves unit. He shot a 42 percent clip from downtown during the playoffs and aided the Lakers in their quest for the franchise's 17th championship.

His twin brother Marcus Morris, secured the bag during the offseason after deciding to re-up with the Los Angeles Clippers on a four-year, $64 million deal. While both he and Morris share a similar sample size with both LA rivals, Marcus had a significant amount of playing time compared to Markieff.
