As a way to remember their life and legacies, former NBA forward Matt Barnes has a new tattoo of Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna.

Barnes and Bryant shared a fairly close friendship, as they were teammates with the Lakers for two seasons. According to a report from TMZ, the tattoo is set on Barnes' arm. The artwork was performed by legendary artist Steve Butcher, who is also credited for the Tupac tattoo on Barnes' hand.

The tattoo portrays a touching moment from the 2016 NBA All-Star Game in Orlando, whereby Kobe and a young Gianna were photographed embracing one another with beaming smiles.

Sadly, Kobe and Gianna were killed in a helicopter crash just outside Los Angeles in January. According to several reports, all nine passengers on the flight perished in the tragic accident. The group was on its way to the Mamba Sports Academy, where Kobe was to serve as a coach for his daughter's basketball team.

Several prominent NBA players have taken a similar route, getting tattoos in honor of Kobe and Gianna. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Devin Booker can be counted among this group.

Kobe Bryant may be gone, but the memories, as well as his “Mamba Mentality,” will live on. Since his passing, fans around the globe have come up with unique ways to honor his legacy. And for days after his death, Lakers fans flocked to the Staples Center for a vigil.
