Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace was very emotional following the tragic death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

World Peace was recently on the Zach Lowe Podcast where he talked about how he couldn't control his crying after Bryant tragically passed away in a helicopter crash.

Via The Indy Star:

He recalled being on a plane to Europe with his wife on Feb. 26. The in-flight movie ended with someone's death. Suddenly, he was overcome with tears.

“I couldn't control my crying because I've been suppressing it,” Metta World Peace said. “It comes in waves. On the plane, I'm like, ‘What am I crying for?' It's something you don't cope with. I'm not trying to make it better. I don't want it to get better. Time heals all wounds.”

World Peace and Bryant won the 2010 NBA championship together when the Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics. That was Kobe's final championship.

Every item that was left at the Kobe Bryant memorial outside the Staples Center came with a handwritten note. Mourners immediately started gathering outside of Staples Center after the Lakers icon passed away.

In total, those who gathered outside the Staples Center left 1,353 basketballs and over 25,000 candles, as well jerseys, flowers, shoes, paintings and stuffed animals.

The Lakers retired Bryant’s No. 8 and 24 jerseys last year. The late basketball icon is set to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer as part of an incredible class of 2020.

Los Angeles has the best record in the West. However, nothing would make this 2019-20 season more special than to see LeBron James and Anthony Davis lead the Lakers to the coveted Larry O’Brien Trophy come June. Both players were close with Bryant and his passing will undoubtedly motivate them to win it all this year and get banner No.17.
