After his second stint with the Los Angeles Lakers, Metta World Peace recently joined the team's G-League affiliate, South Bay Lakers, as a player development coach. With the Lakers set to take on the Santa Cruz Warriors in the 2017-18 NBA G-League season opener on Nov. 4, World Peace spoke about his next chapter.

At the team's Media Day recently, the former 2004 Defensive Player of the Year and one-time champion reveals head coach Coby Karl wants more from him according to Joey Ramirez of South Bay Lakers:

“Coach Karl came to me the other day and was like, ‘I need more from you,’” World Peace said. “That was pretty cool, because I’m starting from the bottom.”

With World Peace's experiences, he enjoys working with players who are trying to achieve their dreams of making it to the NBA:

“I feel like any player I’m working with I can make better,” World Peace said. “I actually enjoy it — that’s the best thing about it.”

In his second stint with the Lakers, World Peace appeared in 60 games total, but his main responsibility was helping the team's young core. Numerous players like Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr. have credited him for their development on and off the court.

As World Peace prepares for his new challenge, South Bay is looking to improve on their 34-16 record from last season where they fell short in the first round of the playoffs against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. With reigning G-League Most Valuable Player Vander Blue leading the way, the future is bright in Los Angeles.
