After what the Los Angeles Lakers have been through this season, it comes as no surprise that team general manager Rob Pelinka's job isn't as secure as he would like it to be. As it turns out, league executives from around the NBA seem to share these exact same thoughts.

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype, the general sentiment from around the league is that Pelinka and the Lakers head office handled the firing of former head coach Frank Vogel poorly.

“Frank was definitely the scapegoat,” said the unnamed exec. “One more year for that front office, and if the results don’t drastically improve, they could be in line for some more changes.”

Pelinka isn't exactly in the hot seat right now, but his job security could be at risk if the Lakers struggle again next season. They may have pinned the blame on Vogel for this year's horrendous campaign, but it's likely that a lot of fingers will be pointed towards Pelinka if the situation does not improve soon.

“Vogel was the scapegoat. There’s no question,” said a second anonymous executive. “I don’t think they treated him very well on the way out. I’m sure he’ll be fine. He’s very well respected in the coaching community. He’ll be able to pick his spot as a high-level assistant if that’s something he wants to do.”
