The Anthony Davis trade to the Los Angeles Lakers — the first huge event of a typically explosive NBA offseason, right after the end of the NBA Finals — elicited reactions from the league's more opinionated players, past and present:
Welp there goes the first domino… Things about to get interesting…💯💯💯

Who needs NBA TV when you can get analysis such as this on social media?
This trade has all the ingredients of a classic #NBATwitter blockbuster in the second half of June, just before the start of free agency:
— A superstar player goes to one of the league's most glamorous franchises in a huge TV market.
— A superstar goes to a glamour franchise in a huge TV market WITH another superstar, LeBron James.
— A massive trade involving a superstar doesn't guarantee the glamorous franchise a bright future; it puts pressure on that organization (the Lakers) to surround Anthony Davis and LeBron with a legitimately strong supporting cast. The Lakers and Rob Pelinka utterly failed to give LeBron a quality supporting cast last season.
— The No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft — Zion Williamson — just gained a large amount of reinforcements, giving the New Orleans Pelicans a very bright long-term outlook. A superstar-in-the-making landing on a team with a deep and talented roster is another huge story in NBA circles. With David Griffin — arguably the best front-office man in the league (competing with Bob Myers of Golden State and Masai Ujiri of Toronto) — calling the shots in New Orleans, the Pelicans have quickly positioned themselves as a team to watch in the 2020s.
None of these stories involving Anthony Davis or the Lakers have touched on the ripple effects felt by other teams in the league.
The NBA — in the aftermath of this Anthony Davis trade with the Lakers and Pelicans — is now bracing for the Kawhi Leonard decision, the Kyrie Irving decision, draft-night drama, and other dominoes which will radically remake the league for the 2019-2020 season.
You can expect to see more excited tweets from Jared Dudley, Kendrick Perkins, David West, and other social media fixtures among the player community on #NBATwitter.
Stay tuned. The fun is just beginning.
