Although the Los Angeles Lakers secured the commitment of LeBron James during this wild period of free agency, Lakers fans are still feeling the sting of Paul George’s choice not to join the four-time MVP in Hollywood. Instead, George opted to agree to a four-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It also would not probably help Lakers supporters get over George’s decision anytime soon by learning from the third installment of his ESPN documentary that the swingman could’ve been a Laker a year ago if only the Indiana Pacers heeded to his request to be shipped to Los Angeles.

Here’s a transcript of what George said in the said episode, per RealGM.

“It's been very stressful,” said George. “It has not been an easy decision. I 100 percent appreciate Laker Nation for wanting me to come back home, for wanting to play in front of them.

“I wanted to come here a year ago prior to going to OKC. Unfortunately, I wasn't traded to the Lakers. The Lakers didn't grab me. I was traded to Oklahoma. And that has been a beautiful thing for me.”

The Pacers chose to send George to Oklahoma City in 2017 in exchange for the pair of Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis, a deal that is ultimately paying dividends for Indiana with Oladipo turning into an All-Star.

With the Thunder, George will operate once again in the superstar triumvirate of him, Russell Westbrook, and Carmelo Anthony, who also decided to stay in OKC by picking up his $27.9 million option for the 2018-19 campaign.
