If you want to witness in person Kobe Bryant’s jersey-retirement ceremony, then start saving up for it now. It won’t come cheap because it’s not going to cost you just $81.

Even before he officially ended his basketball career in 2016, the Los Angeles Lakers great was virtually assured of having his jersey numbers retired by the franchise. It was just a matter of when. That will happen on Dec. 18 at Staples Center when the Lakers play host to the reigning and defending NBA champions, the Golden State Warriors.

As of this writing, the cheapest price for a seat in the house for that event is $599.95, according to StubHub.com.

Originally, the lowest-priced seats for that December contest were set at around $127 each, but apparently, an added-event in which one of the greatest ever to play the game will see his jerseys lifted to the rafters of Staples Center commands a massive jump in ticket prices.

It was earlier reported that both numbers that Kobe sported in his playing days, the No. 8 and the No. 24, will be retired.

In case you’re wondering, the priciest StubHub.com ticket for that special occasion is $5,090 or nearly five times more expensive than the cheapest ones. Legendary figures sure command legendary prices.
