Los Angeles Lakers guard Quinn Cook admitted that his first few weeks with his new team have been “crazy” because of the attention he has been getting.
Quinn Cook told Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype that he is used to getting attention after playing for teams with huge fan base since his high school days. He also drew a lot of interests during his time with the Duke Blue Devils, and was also a fan favorite when the played for the Golden State Warriors in the past two seasons.
However, Cook admitted that what he has been experiencing since signing a deal with the Lakers is very different. He said that everywhere he goes, he is receiving a lot of love from fans.
“I’ve been a Laker for about two weeks now and this is crazy,” Cook said. “This is the most love I’ve ever had. I’ve never had so many fans hitting me up and congratulating me. Anywhere I walk in Los Angeles, there are Laker fans! They’re all over the place! They’ve been showing me extreme love.”
The 26-year-old guard, who signed a two-year deal worth $6 million with the Lakers, said that he has never received such attention before despite playing for popular teams. He added that the support from fans is making him more determined to work hard in the hopes of helping the Lakers win a championship next season.
