The Los Angeles Lakers host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday, and Lakers veteran point guard Rajon Rondo is a game-time decision.

Rondo has been out since Dec. 25. The four-time All-Star underwent surgery on his right finger. It's the second surgery this season which Rondo has undergone on his right hand. The 32-year-old broke his right hand in November.

The Lakers desperately need Rajon Rondo to play against the Timberwolves. Lonzo Ball and LeBron James are both out with separate injuries. While Brandon Ingram did a good job on Monday at the point guard position versus the Golden State Warriors, LA's offense runs much more smoothly when Rondo, Ball, or James is at the controls.

In his first season with the Lakers, Rondo is averaging 8.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game. The 13-year pro is shooting 45.0 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from beyond the arc and 61.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers are 25-23 on the season, good for ninth place in the Western Conference standings. The team has dropped five spots in the standings since James went out. Getting Rondo against Minnesota back would be huge for a team that is trying to hold down the fort until The King comes back.
