Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo is playing down the incident that happened between his brother and Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook.

To recall, William Rondo was ejected during Game 5 of the Lakers-Rockets series after a heated verbal exchange with Westbrook. Russ was clearly disappointed with what William said, so much so that even looked like he was ready to go at it with Rajon's brother.

However, talking to The Undefeated, Rondo claimed that his brother didn't say anything out of the ordinary, noting he simply called Westbrook “trash.”

“He didn’t say anything crazy, raise his voice and cuss (Russ). He called the man ‘Trash.’ As players we get away with manipulating the game and manipulating the referees as if we are being attacked. I’ve done it in the past,” the Lakers vet explained.

Rajon Rondo also admitted that while his comments are biased, he also asked the NBA security to talk to the fans sitting in the bubble about what happened. He then revealed that the only reason his brother was heard was because of the limited fans, which means he was not directing the insult to Russell Westbrook or picking up a fight.

It remains to be seen how the league will respond to the incident, particularly if there will be rule changes to avoid such verbal altercation from happening again.

For now, though, Rondo and the Lakers can enjoy their much-deserved rest as they await their Conference Finals opponents.
