In Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals against the Denver Nuggets, Rajon Rondo of the Lakers moved up to the eighth spot in the all-time NBA Playoffs assists list, surpassing Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen.

See the record-setting assist below. Rajon Rondo displayed his vision by chucking the ball to a cutting LeBron James in the fourth quarter of Game 5. Rondo ended the game with seven assists. He also had 11 points and five rebounds in the Lakers' victory.

Rajon Rondo actually surpassed the great Kobe Bryant in Game 3. And if he continues his hot assist streak, then he has a chance to surpass legends Steve Nash and Larry Bird.

Rajon Rondo started piling up his playoff assists during his stint with the Boston Celtics. Together with the trio of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce, Rondo helped the Celtics become title contenders from 2008 to 2012. This included two trips to the NBA Finals that resulted in one title. They also made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2009.

After his stint with the Celtics, Rajon Rondo showcased why he’s one of the best true point guards that the league has seen. Perhaps the most notable is his stint with the New Orleans Pelicans. In nine playoff games in 2018, Rondo averaged a career-best 12.2 assists. They entered the playoffs as the sixth seed and faced the third-seed Portland Trail Blazers squad. But lo and behold, the Pelicans booted out the Blazers in four games.

Up 3-1, the Lakers have a chance to close out the series in Game 5 on Saturday. Will Rajon Rondo continue to rack up his playoff assists?
