It seems every day a story comes out about an NBA player giving back to a community that really needs it. On Monday it was Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo who was in the spotlight for helping out some kids in need in Louisville Kentucky. Rondo gifted 157 jackets and ties to sixth grade students at the W.E.B. DuBois Academy in Louisville.

Rondo is from Louisville and attended the University of Kentucky and over the years has done a good job of giving back to his hometown. All students at the academy are required to wear a jacket and tie and Rondo wanted to help the kids out.

“It’s very humbling for me to be a part of this,” Rondo said, via Wave3. “When they put these jackets on, I hope they know that I’m always there supporting those guys. If they ever need any little encouragement, I put an insert inside their jacket to let those guys know that everything will be okay and to just keep pushing.”

The academy is for 6th through 8th graders and will eventually hold up to 450 students. Rondo seems to have taken this school under his wing and it will probably be a school that he will help out a lot at. Rondo's new teammate LeBron James has also done a lot this summer helping open a school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Every kid who graduates from the school will also get a full ride to the University of Akron.
