Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Rajon Rondo will play in Game 1 against the Houston Rockets on Friday, per head coach Frank Vogel.

This will be Rondo's first game with the Lakers since March 10.

Rajon Rondo appeared in 48 games for the Lakers during the 2019-20 regular season, averaging 7.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 65.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Rondo suffered a thumb injury upon arriving at Disney World and required surgery to address it. The Lakers didn't need the former All-Star in the first round against the Portland Trail Blazers, as LeBron James and Co. won the series in five quick games.

James averaged a triple-double in the Blazers series.

However, the Lakers are thankful to have Rondo back in the lineup against the Rockets, who are led by MVPs James Harden and Russell Westbrook. We could certainly see Rondo guard both Harden and Westbrook at different points in the series.

The Lakers are the betting favorite to beat the Rockets since Houston doesn't have any centers to guard superstar Anthony Davis in the post. Los Angeles fans are hoping the team isn't rusty in Game 1, though, since they've been off for a while.
