Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel told reporters on Tuesday that point guard Rajon Rondo will travel to Florida on Wednesday and spend some time outside the bubble before coming in and quarantining.

Rondo left the bubble a few weeks ago to undergo surgery on his fractured right thumb.

The Lakers are 2-1 so far in Orlando, Florida. They have defeated the Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz and lost to the Toronto Raptors. Monday's win over the Jazz was big since it helped them clinch the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference standings.

Before the season was suspended in March, Rajon Rondo was averaging 7.1 points and 5.0 assists per game for Los Angeles. His playoff experience and veteran leadership will be crucial for the Lakers once the postseason starts following the conclusion of the seeding games.

Rondo, who won the 2008 championship with the Boston Celtics over the Lakers, has career playoff averages of 14.0 points and 9.3 assists with the Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans. The former All-Star and current LA superstar Anthony Davis developed a solid rapport during the 2018 playoffs when they were teammates on the Pelicans, especially in the pick-and-roll game.

Once the playoffs begin, the Purple and Gold will be one of the favorites to win the title with LeBron James and Davis leading the charge. However, the team is hoping that Rondo will be able to contribute in some capacity.
