The beef between Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo and Houston Rockets floor general Chris Paul would not remain on the court, as it expanded to the stands as their significant others' traded barbs while the two duked it out on the court, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic:

“The drama extended beyond the court,” wrote Amick. “A heated Paul told teammates and coaches in the locker room afterward that Rondo’s girlfriend had sparked a verbal confrontation with Chris’ wife in the stands, according to sources.”

The two elite playmakers have been known to have bad blood between them throughout the years, but apparently the beef goes way beyond 94 feet, as their significant others seemed to be heavily involved in the drama as well.

The two point guards had come in to try and split up Brandon Ingram and James Harden after the former pushed him on the back after he was rewarded with a foul call driving to the basket. Despite bringing peace, the two point guards drenched a hot atmosphere in kerosene, soon coming face-to-face after Rondo spit in Paul's face, drawing ire from the nine-time All-Star.

“You don’t do that. You don’t do that to nobody. In sports, on the streets, that’s blatant disrespectful,” said Paul's teammate Carmelo Anthony. “That’s unacceptable.

Ingram would net a four-game suspension from the league office, as the instigator of the incident, while Rondo got three games and Paul two for their involvement on Friday night's fight.
