LaVar Ball is no stranger to receiving criticism from members of the NBA community due to the continuous controversial statements he says publicly. The most recent one was when he blasted Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton for “not having control” of his team anymore. A number of coaches have expressed their disgust. And now, one of the league's best players ever in Hall of Famer Reggie Miller chimes in with some scathing opinion.

Miller appeared on a recent episode of The Dan Patrick Show where he called for Magic Johnson to shut Ball by accepting calls for a potential trade centered around his son Lonzo.

“I don’t like giving him a platform,” Miller said. “But he’s made it impossible not to do so. ”

“This is a time for Magic Johnson, the greatest Laker, in my opinion, of all-time, and now has taken the helm back … this is a chance for Magic Johnson to absolutely put his foot down and put an end to this,” he said. “He could really destroy LaVar if he really wanted to. I would go close to almost threatening, ‘If you keep opening your mouth … we are going to trade your son from the Lakers.'”

While it may be hard to imagine that the Lakers will be entertaining calls to trade, Ball, the second overall pick of last June's draft, it's also not the worst idea given to try and silence LaVar. Things may still seem to be under control in the team's locker room for now, but if the unsolicited and unsubstantiated criticisms continue, push may come to shove from the Lakers' side of things.

The fiery comments made by Miller are expected to be much talked about in the coming days and it will also be interesting to find out how the older Ball will respond to Miller. With his track record, and fondness to get a lot of attention to him and his family, it won't be surprising if Ball once again makes a new beef with a much bigger personality.
