The Los Angeles Lakers have been under massive scrutiny for the majority of the season. The fire that's been directed at LeBron James and Co. received more vitriol as of late, no thanks to a 3-11 record over their last 14 games.

It doesn't matter if you're LeBron James or Russell Westbrook—no one is spared from the watchful eyes of critics. Just recently, the bad takes detectives unearthed a poorly-aged statement from ex-NBA player Kendrick Perkins. In the said comment made during a guesting on ESPN's The Jump, as transcribed by ClutchPoints, Perk went all-in on the Lakers.

“You cannot tell me that you’re gonna have LeBron, Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza…imma be surprised if they don’t scratch the surface of a 70 win season.”

Kendrick Perkins must've thought that we're living in 2014. If that was the case, the Lakers would've been awarded the Larry O'Brien trophy on opening night. It's 2022, though, and plenty of things have happened over the last eight years, including some of the players mentioned above naturally declining.

Of course, the Twitterverse won't allow Perkins to go unscathed for making such a prediction.

It's just bad.

As of writing, the Lakers (27-35) are ninth in the Western Conference standings. An early trip to Cancun is very much in play as the retooled New Orleans Pelicans and the supposedly-gutted Portland Trail Blazers are lurking behind.

Truth be told, Los Angeles has the personnel to keep their heads above water. The Lakers' biggest enemy is themselves. Drop the poor body language. Rekindle that killer instinct. Easier said than done, right? Just like making grandiose expectations on an aging roster.

Now carry the hell on.
