Klutch Sports agent Rich Paul has faced plenty of backlash for two of his high-profile clients joining forces with the Los Angeles Lakers, as the pairing of LeBron James and Anthony Davis has been largely believed to be a goal of his, as Davis entered the 2018-19 season. So much so, that Paul has been pointed to as the key person running the Lakers behind the scenes — something he categorically denied during an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio.

“No, are you kidding me?,” Paul told host Evan Cohen during a recent interview, who soon asked him if he'd have interest in running an NBA team in the future. “No. Maybe buy one, not run one.

“I'm focused on — I love what I do, man. I love the guys I represent. I love being in that process. Seeing that maturity, helping guys become true professionals. As much as it is negotiating contracts and seeing that — it's a lot of things in between, and it's real. What we have and what I've been able to endure in these past 18 years, 19 years I've been around this game at the professional level like this — it's special. I enjoy it. It's not work for me.”

Davis' exit from New Orleans was abrupt at best, and Paul had a big part in that, soon leaking the information two days after his client had told the team of his intentions.

Now the pairing of two of his most powerful clients in James and Davis is a reality, but it's tough to prove that Paul had any strings besides advising the two, considering his powers as an agent only extend to a certain point.
