The Los Angeles Lakers do not have a pick entering the 2022 NBA Draft. Be that as it may, it doesn't look like this fact is going to stop Rob Pelinka and the Lakers from participating in the upcoming draft.

During a press conference on Monday, the Lakers general manager revealed his plans for the draft. Apparently, LA intends to somehow get their hands on a pick in order to take part in the draft. This comes via NBA insider Marc Stein:

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka hopes to buy at least one second-round pick to gain entree into the June 23 NBA Draft

The Lakers GM did not provide too many details about how he intends to execute his plan, but what we can say for sure is that LA does not want to sit out the draft. However, as Pelinka stated in his statement above, the Lakers intend to use cash in order to purchase a second-round draft pick from an opposing team.

The Lakers have a handful of personnel decisions to make in the offseason and it would not be surprising if we see an entirely different squad in 2022-23, save for their core pieces. Apparently, LA is also looking at the draft for potential additions to the squad.
