Former NBA star Scottie Pippen believes that the Los Angeles Lakers have a great opportunity to win the NBA championship next season following their acquisition of All-Star forward Anthony Davis.
In an appearance on ESPN's The Jump, Pippen said that while the Lakers need to add more shooters, they have become legitimate title contenders. He also pointed out the window of opportunity for the team amid the issues and questions surrounding the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors.

LA gave a lot of assets to acquire Davis, solely for the purpose of maximizing LeBron James' tenure with the team. They can also free enough cap space to sign one more top-tier free agent this summer, which will make them an even tougher team to beat.
The Lakers are expected to rule the Western Conference especially after the unfortunate turn of events that happened to the Warriors. The Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder are all expected to be contenders, but it remains to be seen how they will load up this summer.
Of course, things might change come free agency, where teams like the Los Angeles Clippers can suddenly turn their fortunes around because of their massive cap space.
Still, there will be high expectations for the Lakers next season. They are expected to break their streak of six consecutive years without a playoffs appearance.
The Lakers are trending in the right direction, but sure enough, their job is far from over.
