Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O'Neal has started to change his diet and as expected, he had a great story to tell about it.

Throughout his entire career, Shaquille O'Neal has always been one of the biggest guys in the league. It could be that he was just genetically larger compared to most of his contemporaries but one thing certain was that he managed to utilize his unique advantage for the most part.

However, in the twilight years of his time with the NBA, Shaq significantly gained weight and it continued until after he retired in 2011. More than a decade after, the former Lakers big man has decided to hit the gym once again but this time, the 49-year-old is doing it with a new high-protein, low-carb diet.

According to Shaq, he realized lately that he's starting to look old. When he saw a muscular “70-year-old”  guy on social media, he immediately changed his diet and ended up getting his abs back.

“I saw this 70-year-old guy on there, and he had muscles everywhere. So I just decided to switch it up. No more bread, no more late-night lemon Oreos, no more Entenmann’s cakes, none of that. I've been doing this for six months and just eating fruit, protein shakes, salads, fish, chicken, and asparagus or other vegetables,” O'Neal said via Men's Journal.

“Very small portions and eating that every day has helped me lose 25-30 pounds. I started to see stuff that I haven't seen in 20 to 30 years — like a six-pack. And I haven't had one of those since I was on the 2006 Miami Heat.”

Thus far, it appears that the sudden change in Shaq's diet has been doing him good and based on his recent social media posts, his followers could tell that he's happy about it.
