Incoming UCLA Bruins freshman Shareef O'Neal recently took to Instagram to heap praises and empathy for Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James’ son, Bronny James.

Showing wisdom beyond his age, Shareef pointed out the similar paths he and Bronny are in. Aware that both of them are sons of NBA superstars, who were also once teammates in Cleveland, Shareef knows the challenges of having critics at such a young age and the pressure of living up to the promise of their genes. And through his social media post, Shareef clearly wants Bronny to emerge successfully from those trials just like him.

Bronny … One kid I can relate to a lot … we both kind of have it the same way , being the son of an NBA legend isn’t easy and to get all of this at a young age is a real challenge to adjust to.. Bronny has it a little bit worse than I do, but the difference between him and I, he can back his up at such a young age .. when I would get hate from people in the crowd at 14/15 years old .. I would choke up and wouldn’t play my game and I’m still getting the hang of it .. it’s all a journey … this kid has it all! I’m looking forward to seeing him kill it for the rest of his career ! Love

Shareef originally committed to play for the Arizona Wildcats but decided to withdraw from Sean Miller’s program after an FBI investigation was launched to look into possible illegal recruitment violations of the school.

Bronny is only 13, five years younger than Shareef, and is considered among the best players in his class, so the James family can expect college coaches to show up at their doorstep a few years from now.
