Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James will go down as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. But James reportedly has bigger goals in mind.

Fox Sports commentator Skip Bayless claims a source close to James told him LeBron has seriously considered running for President of the United States:

This comes just a few days after DeMarcus Cousins appeared on the “All The Smoke” Podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, during which he stated his belief that his Lakers teammate should run for the highest-ranking public office in the land.

However, according to Sports Illustrated reporter Melissa Rohlin, James said he was “not interested” during practice on Thursday:

Who knows whether Bayless is merely trying to keep the narrative alive. Regardless, James has quite the impressive resume outside of basketball.

James founded the I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, OH, supplying temporary housing for families in the process.

It was recently confirmed that the inaugural class from James' school will receive free tuition to Kent State University, which LeBron lauded as his greatest achievement (via Jill Martin of CNN):

“We have so many options, and I just know that so many kids in my community just don't have many options,” James said. “So for me to be able to be in a position where I can give these kids options to decide what they want to do with their future, it's probably the best thing I've ever done.”

Even if LeBron does not want to run for President, he holds tremendous influence and gravity in terms of public works.

James should continue to invest in at-risk communities in retirement, though that still seems to be a few years away.
