As the great Benjamin Franklin once said, in this world nothing can be certain except death, taxes, and LeBron James getting criticized by Skip Bayless. Even in the offseason, there's apparently no days off for that last one as the Los Angeles Lakers star made a splashy appearance at the famous Drew League alongside DeMar DeRozan.

LeBron was an absolute menace on the court playing against semi-pros and men half his size. He poured in 42 points, 16 rebounds, and four steals in a 104-102 win during the famous Los Angeles pro-am competition on Saturday:

It wasn't just King James who was looking to be in midseason form. So was his number one critic Skip Bayless. The outspoken Fox Sports 1 host laid into LeBron for his outside shooting and a key missed free throw that would have extended their lead to three in what turned out to be a two-point win.

ā€œLove it that LeBron played in the Drew League today. But: he shot only 2-13 from three??? He missed the late free throw that would've at least clinched overtime? Some things never change,ā€ said Bayless.

It's rare for anyone to get called out after dropping 42 points and getting the W in what is a meaningless pick-up game for the Lakers star. Leave it to a guy like Skip Bayless to pull that one off.

Besides, the missed free throw was perhaps just LeBron James spicing things up. One of his opponents spoke out about asking LeBron to miss one at the line to set up a more exciting finish.

Via ESPN:

ā€œI walked up to LeBron up the end, and I told him, ā€˜Hey, I need one [miss],'ā€ Mike Nwabuzor of BPE, who plays professionally overseas, said afterward. ā€œAnd he actually smoked the free throw. So that was probably the best moment. But the whole game was fun. Great competition. It's just great to share the court with him.ā€

Did LeBron miss it intentionally, or did Nwabuzor just pull off the same gamesmanship that the Lakers star did to Gilbert Arenas way back in 2006 when he iced Agent Zero during his clutch free throws in an elimination game? We all know which side Skip Bayless would be on.
