It has been almost a week since LeBron James' Space Jam: A New Legacy hit the big screens, and ESPN's Stephen A. Smith is the latest one to offer his honest take on the film.

Contrary to popular belief, the First Take host actually had great things to say about the 120-minute long feature spearheaded by the Los Angeles Lakers superstar. Space Jam 2 is approved:

“Gotta take a moment to give props to you @KingJames,” Smith posted on his Twitter account. “Just finished watching #SpaceJamMovie. Damn good job. Damn good! Kids will love this. Way to go!!!”

Okay, that was sort of unexpected. Considering that there were a ton of folks who have already roasted the sequel to the animated cult classic, plus the fact that Smith is known to dish out some of the hottest takes in sports, his great Space Jam 2 review is quite a refreshing take.

Though a lot of people have been quick to give James' newest project a subpar rating, film and basketball fans alike have been vocal about their support for the four-time MVP's much-anticipated movie, including Smith.

While the film isn't quite an instant classic like the original Space Jam featuring none other than Michal Jordan, this newest version actually indeed has noteworthy aspects. Aside from the fact the Los Angeles Lakers star did one hell of a job, the cameo of stars like teammate Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, and Damian Lillard, as well as the WNBA's Nneka Ogwumike and Diana Taurasi, were a welcome sight.

Space Jam 2 certainly has its downs but, personally, its ups sort of make up for it. It's a kid's movie for crying out loud. Sit back and relax.
