At this point in his career, how far along is LeBron James from dethroning Michael Jordan as the GOAT? This is an undeniably polarizing issue, which apparently, Charles Barkley has a rather controversial take on. According to the Hall of Famer, LeBron could actually surpass MJ as the GOAT if he leads the Los Angeles Lakers to another title this season.

Barkley made his audacious claim in a recent appearance on ESPN's Get Up program and unsurprisingly, Stephen A. Smith went on an all-out tirade as soon as he heard what Sir Charles had to say:

According to Barkley, “a serious conversation” has to be had about LeBron's GOAT status if he bags the title with the Lakers this year. Sir Charles did not even get a chance to defend his point comprehensively before an irate Stephen A. busted in with his counter-arguments.

Did you notice how Smith began winding up even before Barkley's GOAT claim? It looked like the outspoken TV host was getting ready to battle (he has a pending fistfight with Kwame Brown on the horizon, by the way) as soon as he realized what Barkley was getting at.

Safe to say, Stephen A. Smith does not think LeBron James has done enough to supplant Michael Jordan as the GOAT. That's probably never going to happen in his book.
