Once his buyout is finalized with the Phoenix Suns, veteran center Tyson Chandler will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Lakers need size in the front court and a valuable backup to JaVale McGee at the center position.
Tyson Chandler, 36, grew up in Hanford, California.
Suns and Chandler have had a mutual agreement on a buyout on his $13M-plus expiring deal for some time now, but Chandler needed a landing spot. Chandler found it with Lakers, who need size, and as @espn_macmahon says, will welcome his locker room presence. https://t.co/swUWLgLOOL

In seven games this season with the lowly Suns, Tyson Chandler averaged 3.7 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 66.7 percent from the field. Phoenix is still rebuilding and doesn't have a need for Chandler since they have Deandre Ayton and Richaun Holmes on the roster.
Tyson Chandler was part of the Dallas Mavericks team which defeated LeBron James and the Miami Heat in the 2011 Finals. Along with being an NBA champion, Chandler has made the All-Star team once, was on the 2012 All-NBA team and won the 2012 Defensive Player of the Year award.
Chandler has career averages of 8.6 points and 9.3 rebounds in 1086 NBA games.
