The Los Angeles Lakers re-signing Talen Horton-Tucker this off-season was a sure thing, at least according to THT himself. The 20-year-old got himself quite a bag as he signed a three-year deal with $32 million dollars that should keep him in LA until the end of the 2023-2024 NBA season.

For the former NBA champ, his future in LA wasn't really in doubt if you asked him.

“I feel like it was a no-brainer just to come back where I started and just kind of run it back,” Horton-Tucker said (via Lakers Daily). “I want to win a championship  so being around this group of guys that we have is going to be a plus for me.”

It took some time before the 46th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft found his role with the Lakers. Horton-Tucker spent his rookie year in the NBA as a member of the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League before eventually playing a total of eight games for the Lakers including two stints in the 2020 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat.

Last season, THT was a valuable part of the roster and played 65 games for the Purple & Gold averaging nine points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He can create his own shot and make the right plays both offensively and defensively. Horton-Tucker can also run the floor which should be huge now that the offense will be run with a spitfire point guard like Russell Westbrook.

With LeBron James and Anthony Davis once again being at the forefront of the new-look Lakers coming into the 2021-2022 NBA season, look for THT  to comfortably slip into his role and be a key part of Laker Nation.
