Early into the Los Angeles Lakers' matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, TNT's Chris Haynes came on-air to provide updates on the status of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Kendrick Nunn.

LeBron sprained his left ankle against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday and was held out for the Mavs clash. Haynes (who is well-connected to LeBron and Klutch), reported that James will likely miss the Lakers road game vs. the Utah Jazz on Thursday. The Lakers host the Pelicans on Saturday at Crypto.com Arena.

Following the Lakers deflating loss on Sunday, LeBron admitted that his ankle felt “horrible” and the impending road trip and multiple plane rides wouldn't help with his recovery. The Lakers have six wins in the 20 games LeBron has missed in 2021-22.

Haynes also reported that, if there are no setbacks, AD is targeting either Friday or Sunday — when the Lakers host the Denver Nuggets — for his long-awaited return. AD has been out since Feb. 16 with a mid-foot sprain.

For the first time since his latest injury, AD was a full participant in practice on Monday, and sources said he looked great. AD's missed 37 games this season, after missing 36 in 2020-21.

Finally, Haynes posited that Kendrick Nunn, who has yet to play this season with a lingering bone bruise in his knee, is expected to miss the rest of the regular season. He'll undergo another MRI next week. Frank Vogel did not sound optimistic about Nunn's prospects when asked about the combo guard earlier this week.

Nunn signed a two-year, $10 million last summer (via taxpayer mid-level exception), but has yet to debut with the Lakers. He has a player option for 2022-23, which he'll assuredly pick up.

At time of writing, the shorthanded Lakers are trailing the Mavericks, 82-56, at halftime, as their “hopes” of making the Play-In game continue to wane.
