Anthony Davis is locked in on game days. Even when his Los Angeles Lakers teammate and close friend, LeBron James, tests positive for COVID-19.

Davis opened up to Yahoo's Chris Haynes about his eventful Wednesday, which began with James undergoing three COVID-19 tests, two of which came back positive. (James entered the NBA's health and safety protocols, privately flew back from Sacramento to Los Angeles, and is expected to miss several games.)

Apparently, LeBron checked in with AD during the day — hours before the Lakers were set to face the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center. However, because Davis goes off-grid on game days, he accidentally ghosted a GOAT.

“He actually texted me later and I didn’t even respond,” Davis revealed. “He knows I got a game tonight. But seriously when we spoke earlier, we didn’t really talk about basketball. I just checked in on him and made sure he was cool. When it comes to him right now, I’m not even worried about basketball. I’m worried about making sure he’s OK.”

Once AD woke up from a nap and saw the news, he checked in on James.

“I talked to him today,” Davis recalled in his postgame remarks. “Obviously, me and LB is close and I checked on him. Just hearing what Joel Embiid said — obviously (Embiid) was scared. He said that he thought he wasn’t going to make it. COVID is a scary thing. Especially with all the new variants coming out and all that…it’s a scary situation. He said he’s good.”

Davis dropped 25 points (12-of-22 shooting), seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks in the Lakers' 117-92 win over the Kings. Afterward, he confirmed LeBron's diagnosis.

“He said he’s asymptomatic, which is a good sign, but we want to make sure that he gets back. Health is what’s most important. It’s bigger than basketball. He has a family and we want to make sure that he’s good no matter what. Like this Basketball Thing don’t stop. We want to make sure his health is what’s most important, especially for our organization. He’s part of our family and we want to make sure he’s good. For his sake, for his family’s sake. Like I said, he seemed to be fine, but I know he’s watching basketball and he’s excited, so the win probably helped him fight this off as well.”
